Role Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Splunk Engineer to join us and help our clients achieve their development goals. If you’re a Senior Splunk Engineer who wants to develop initiatives from idea to production and help your clients achieve their goals, then this is a fit for you.

The Splunk Engineer will create and manage Splunk knowledge objects, implement KV stores, lookups, and data model acceleration to optimize search performance and reporting. Apart from solution delivery, you will have the opportunity to leverage your leadership and mentoring skills to raise the level of others in this space.

Employment Type: Full Time or Contract

Location: Remote North or South America

Travel: 1 week per quarter* (every 3 months) to the client site in the U.S. *No travel anticipated for 2022

Salary: commensurate with experience

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze technical system problems/defects, and design and implement effective solutions.
  • Onboard new data sources into Splunk, analyzed the data for anomalies and trends, and built dashboards highlighting key trends.
  • Work with and support Scrum Masters, Product Owners, business stakeholders, and peers to iteratively create software that meets business and technical requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of team backlog, plans, and assignments.
  • Improve efficiency through process improvement and automation.
  • Perform data mining and analysis, utilizing various queries and reporting methods.
  • Create and manage Splunk knowledge objects (field extractions, macros, event types, etc.).
  • Mentor users and other groups on their use of Splunk.
  • Be part of a culture of innovation and learning.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.

Required Skills:

  • High proficiency with Splunk onboarding, search and reporting.
  • Senior experience with scripting and automation.
  • Experience deploying apps within Splunk and administrating the Splunk platform.
  • Experience with data normalization and data modelling within the Splunk environment.
  • Experience in creating and managing Splunk DB connects Identities, Database connections, Database inputs, outputs, lookups, and access controls.
  • Experience with regex.
  • Knowledge of advanced search and reporting commands.
  • Understanding of system log files and other structured and non-structured data.
  • Understand methods of collection, logging, windows filtering, and tuning / baselining data.
  • Experience working with distributed agile teams.
  • Experience working with collaborative teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
